There’s no arguing the commitment it takes to look after your skin and while face masks - the kind we like to wear dressed in a robe, drinking wine on a Friday night, posting selfies to Instagram - have easily had their minute, the latest skincare trend to hit the ground running is by far one of the most convenient and effective ways to deliver a concentrated dose of all kinds of goodness, for optimal results.
It’s called multi-masking.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The correct mask can help bring back to life dull and dehydrated skin, draw out impurities, and remove excess oils we call sebum as well as reduce inflammation and fine lines.
However as we are all different, there is no one size fits all method.
Instead of using just one face mask to target a specific skin concern, multi-masking is the process of applying different products to different areas to treat a range of issues all at once.
THE BENEFITS?
IT’S VERSATILE AND UNIQUELY CUSTOMISABLE FOR YOU
Everyone’s skin is different and reacts in different ways. One day you might be feeling oily, the next a little dry - multi-masking allows you to create a customisable solution to spot-treat specific concerns as they arise suited to your needs.
EXTREMELY CONVENIENT
Short on time? Multi-masking can deliver high yielding results in record time. Whether you’re at home, in the air, at the desk or scrolling in bed, there’s also no reason you can’t multitask while you multi-mask and achieve immediate results.
IT HELPS YOU RELAX
Stress can wreak havoc on our skin so taking the time to relax and slow down, applying a mask can prove beneficial in more ways than one… Not to mention it gives major spa feels in the comfort of your own home.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT MASK?
Depending on your specific concern, look for masks that include the following:
Oily skin – all of our clay masks will draw out excess oil. The charcoal clay and green olive clay mask are typically your strongest bet to absorb excess oil
Dryness and dehydration – look for a mask that hydrates, Australian pink clay is perfect to help keep moisture locked in yet still draw out all the excess oil, use hyaluronic acid or face moisturiser post mask
Pigmentation and scaring – anything with vitamin c can help with this. All of our masks contain vitamin C which makes it easier to choose for this specific concern
Wrinkles and fine lines – Our rejuvenating clay mask bundle is perfect for wrinkles and fine lines packed with high minerals and magnesium your skin will look refreshed and young again
Acne & blemishes – all of our clay masks have anti-inflammatory properties and being high in magnesium makes it perfect for acne and blemishes. The green clay and seaweed mask and the charcoal mask are our strongest ones to help draw out the sebum that causes the acne and blemishes. We like to use the pink clay with these two not in the t-zone as it helps hydrate the non-oily areas.
Flaky, patchy skin – Australian Pink clay mask with our jojoba beads for light exfoliation
Pro-tip: Always make sure you’ve washed your face and hands before application - you don’t want to allow any dirt to transfer onto clean skin. If you have time use a DIY steam mask with hot water and a towel to open those pores.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE A FACE MASK?
Your skin type will determine a lot about how you use face masks and specifically, what kind. However one of the many benefits of masking is that it allows you to be versatile, letting you treat your concerns on an as-needed basis.
Once or twice a week is generally a good rule of thumb.
